Electro-Hydraulic Orange Peel Grabs (500–20,000 L)

The electro-hydraulic orange peel grabs of the NG-EHG series are designed for intensive bulk and scrap handling in ports, steel mills, recycling plants and industrial terminals. With capacities from 500 L to 20,000 L and motor power up to 30 kW, these grabs ensure fast cycles, high filling rates and excellent penetration in light scrap, mixed bulk and industrial waste streams.

Each grab is equipped with its own electro-hydraulic power pack, allowing installation on fixed pedestal cranes, portal cranes, travelling cranes and mobile harbour cranes. Reinforced shells, heavy-duty pins and bushings and a robust hydraulic layout guarantee reliability in continuous 24/7 operation. Electro-Hydraulic Polyp Grabs for Ports, Steel Mills and Recycling Yards

The NG-EHG range covers typical capacities for compact hoppers, light scrap, metal recycling, foundries and maritime terminals. Optimised shell geometry improves penetration into loose and semi-compacted materials, while the reinforced grab head and tine arms withstand high dynamic loads on harbour cranes and Gottwald cranes. Depending on the application, you can select open, semi-closed or reinforced tines to balance filling volume and material retention.

Motor Power Pack and Hydraulic Concept

NG Electro-Hydraulic Orange Peel Grabs are supplied as a complete plug-and-work unit including electric motor, hydraulic pump, oil tank and valve block. Motor power ranges from 7.5 kW to 30 kW depending on grab capacity and required cycle time. The integrated hydraulic circuit ensures smooth opening and closing movements with controlled speed, while optional soft-start and remote control packages help to reduce mechanical stress and improve operator comfort.

Shell Designs, Tine Types and Typical Applications

Tine configuration is selected according to the handled material. Open tines provide aggressive penetration in light and bulky scrap, while closed or semi-closed tines retain fine bulk materials in hoppers and port stockpiles. Reinforced and XL/XXL tine designs are recommended for foundries, heavy bulk and demanding port operations where impact loads and abrasion are critical. Typical applications include scrap steel, shredded material, wood and biomass, ores, mixed waste and bulk loading at industrial ports and maritime terminals.

The NG-EHG range can be installed on fixed pedestal cranes, portal cranes, travelling cranes and mobile harbour cranes, as well as on dedicated loading towers and hoppers.

Motor power ranges from 7.5 kW to 30 kW depending on grab size. We usually design the power pack for 380–480 V / 50–60 Hz three-phase supply. Other voltages can be engineered on request.

Yes. Depending on your material, we can adapt capacity, shell shape, tine type (open, semi-closed, closed, reinforced) and wear protection to optimise filling and reduce losses.

We can provide local control panels and remote control solutions tailored to your crane cab, including soft-start, protection and monitoring options for heavy-duty operations.
